GOOD Ideas

When we first starting hearing rumors of GOOD.is coming to St. Louis, it was a little hard to believe. An amazingly progressive online magazine coming to the Midwest? And not to Chicago? Stranger things have happened, but surely not many.

The GOOD Ideas for Cities project aims to advance the role that creative problem-solving and civic engagement play in building great communities. GOOD Ideas for Cities brings together creative teams to tackle real urban challenges identified by community leaders. After slogging through any number of ideas, the creative teams then propose their solution/s to live audiences.

The STL Provocateur team applied to GOOD Ideas for Cities project for a few reasons—one being that we’re huge fans of GOOD.is. The other reasons relate to our love of creative thinking, being part of a positive process, and/or spending our free time in the most utilitarian way possible. The project was a natural fit for our group as GOOD’s tagline is “For people who give a damn.” Check out the Alive Magazine article on Provocateur.

STL Provocateur’s GOOD Presentation in response to the following question: How can St. Louis use our resources and stakeholders to build a hub for urban agriculture and a local food distribution system that will create green jobs, increase accessibility of healthy locally grown food, and educate the public on the benefits of locally grown food? (Video)

Big thanks to the urban leaders who stepped forward to help shape this challenge – FarmWorks, Gateway Greening, RCGA, and the St. Louis Area Food Bank.
